LISTEN TO FORKS & LADDERS
Challenges, delights, and possible discoveries of placement of idea systems on flux structures which are display and event hosts (including conventional paper pages [pre- Livescribe paper and Pulse smart pen system , a paper that records and plays back audio, and has computer interface with what is written/drawn on the paper with the Livescribe Pulse smart pen]) of an idea system.
This guided tour
began with considerations of outcomes of redefining poetry as the dynamic system it already was (and continues to be), without being perceived that way, understandings of things being especially flexible and configurable when forked.
In this Limited Fork audio training poam, Forks and ladders, those interacting with it are asked to map content onto a moving structure, such as a system of rotating ladders as an iteration of a fork (or growing, changing, interacting, forinstance) system.
Dimensionality of course may be a factor/variable/content component,
as aquisition and shedding of dimension help shape how content connects and how content is shaped as a result of attempted connection behaviors, some of which succeed in various ways. Something happens on some scale, in some location, for some duration of time, and the limited fork inquiry seeks to find out what happens under various sets of circumstances which themselves are outcomes of interactions and connection bahviors.
Remember that three-dimenional forms can be expressed in two-dimensional ways for approximation on flat hosts such as conventional paper; the nets of platonic and archimedean solids are 2D depictions of 3D forms such as cubes and tetrahedrons.
Using such solids, it becomes easier to conceive of and to construct, whether for a flat or a more dimensioned residency, a 3D sonnet or villanelle or sestina or story or essay, for instance, not just mapping the words onto such forms, but givng shape to the idea system words attempt to represent. A kind of origami of idea and realities as a form of connectible and/or connecting origami of idea galleries. A form of extreme and splendid origami.
In a 3D understanding of the dress is red, for instance, those words may be placed more like a constellation, each word (or components of words) not on the same plane at all, the relationship perceived as a function of the breakdown of depth perception at such distances --relatively no depth at all, and yet constellations exist, inspire, assign to us meanings of personality and identity, based on inspiring and useful illusion of perception.
(Take a look at the interesting constellation-based interactive [hypertext] poam system Vniverse by Stephanie Stricklandand check out the Dreamlife of Letters by Brian Kim Stefans [or a flash-animation poam whose text behaviors occur on a single plane but do give words and word components independent movements & perhaps separate ambitions that converge here & there, and transform.]
kna'Knox.com is a place for theory & practice of impossible structures and evolutions of dimensionality.)
So there may not be a red dress at all; dress and red may not actually meet, or may pass through or by each other without locking, an idea experiement pursued in the video poam:

In LIMITED FORK THEORY, interactions are not obligated to occur only between entities with similar structure; an idea system includes configuration and expression in multiple modes, sonic, mathematical, tactile, visual, etc. Because of a ladder system in which each rung may be a different mode, each rail may be a different mode; forms of access tend to enable those with various forms of sensory and/or perceptuasl compromise (or augmentation as in forms of synesthesia) by proving many ways to enter and exit the ladder (or lattice) idea system. Acccess (its enabling or its restriction) becomes a concern of Limited Fork Theory, is a consequence of interacting.
As with constellations, components of idea systems do not need to be on the same plane, or expressed in the same mode or remain on the same plane or remain in a single mode. And an idea system includes connections and associations made in subsequent interactions. A participant in an interaction may also be part of many other interaction sets on many scales simultaneously.
Stephen Gill's impressive visual work is interaction that explores interactions, especially stages and intervals of imprint in the mind and on the senses, visual memory and visual processing two of the plastic or adaptable rungs. He is very much aware of systems at work, collaborating (as does Andy Goldsworthy) with environmental forces and partner who continue authorship and are also (as) responsible for aesthetic potential of the outcomes (poams).
Please watch the two exquisite interacting video poam systems on the next two pages of this digital book. Each of these connected video poam systems is concerned with and committed to matters of access, video system poams about sonic fabric (that retains memory or a record of having been a sonic cassette tape system
--that is: there is some residue, some evidence, some marking, some influence [however minimal] that occurs in interaction) that is outcome of interactions (mergers, convergences, partnerships) between Tibetan prayer flags, sail tell-tails, and cassette tape, factories, inspiration, innovation
bringing together nammters of culture, waste, spirituality, possibility, responsibility, aesthetics, imagination, collaboration: wonderful examples of applied Limited Fork Theory. I have grown much
from interacting with them.

ACCESS is at the heart of DINING WITH DIGNITY, a video poam that is all heart. In considering the flexibility of framing systems, and how adaptable framing systems can be, must be, actually, in order to accommodate the infinities of possibilities within infinities of realities.
How impressive it is what a fork can become, how a fork can be configured to enable the reliable usages that those with physical compromises would face if using only tools and utensils that were not configurable, that could not adapt to additional realities.
Do note that these reconfigured forks do not restrict access to those whose physical challenges might require such adaptations; it may turn out these are better tools depending on conditions of an interaction. Possibilities beyond intended functions can emerge, have emerged. There is also beauty in the adaptations of adaptive eating utensils.
DINING WITH DIGNITY
In playing with (investigating, experimenting with) framing systems: those walls shaping information into (often rigid) structures perceived as knowing and understanding,
in playing with these frames, a limited fork recasts those frames into flexible forms. Imagine that the walls that contain (and are contained by) information are forms of forks themselves, with obvious gaps so that it is easier to think of and configure many entry and exit points into and out of those walls that are themselves connected to other grid-walls of information in any way that it is possible for walls to be in both direct and indirect contact.
For this thought experiment, imagine that reality and various compartments of reality
are formed with LADDER systems. This is
a guided inquiry of some of what can arise when realities and information are series of interacting ladders that are flexible and can behave in any/every imaginable way.
Inside the digital book (tines are pages) is
an audio tour to stimulate the playing with
a system of ladders as a flexible framing system of information.
